The New Balance 9060 represents a new expression of today's refined style and innovative design. The 9060 draws inspiration from the visibly technological and proudly futuristic aesthetic of the Y2K era. The sway bars, borrowed from the 990, have been expanded and used throughout the upper to convey a sense of visible motion, while the wavy lines and scaled proportions on the sculpted midsole place exaggerated emphasis on the familiar ABZORB and SBS cushioning platforms.

This particular model is a collaboration with Joe Freshgoods: the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 9060 "Baby Shower Blue" introduces a new silhouette as part of the "Inside Voices" pack, the follow-up to the Chicago designer's 2021 "Outside Clothes" collaboration. Inspired by New Balance's 990 series and classic running models from the early 2000s, the sneaker utilizes a breezy yellow mesh upper with a tonal "N" logo and suede overlays in a pale aquamarine hue. Pastel pink accents are found on the quilted collar lining and the split ABZORB midsole, the latter of which is reinforced by a grippy rubber podular outsole. "JFG" branding appears on the leather heel tab, while "Inside Voices" is embroidered on the back heel of each shoe.
